There is no massage session length that fits everyone. In fact, the same session length may not fit you every time either. Each person brings their own uniqueness to the table each and every time. Your eating, sleep patterns, stress levels and activity all play an important role in how your body feels on a daily basis. One month you may need a 60 minute session once a week. The next month you may be better off with a 120 minute session just once.
Try changing it up once in a while just to feel what other session lengths are like for you. Don’t be afraid to vary your massage length and frequency. Experiment and do what works best for you and your body!
150 minute session
A two and a half hour session allows for the entire body to receive both an extended, relaxing, Swedish massage as well as deep tissue work on ALL muscle groups, including the face, head, neck, stomach, pecs, arms, hands, legs, feet, hips and back. Contrary to what some people believe, it takes time, not pressure, to reach the deepest layer of muscle and connective tissue.
This session is good when you want thorough deep tissue work on all muscle groups from head to toe AND extended stress reduction. It gives your body time to relax, receive and remember what being in a healthy state feels like so that it can return to this natural state more easily afterwards.
120 minutes
A two hour session allows your entire body to receive both a relaxing, Swedish massage as well as deep tissue work on most muscle groups. This session length allows time to reach the deepest layers of several areas as well as giving your body time to enter and remain in a state of deep relaxation which will leave you feeling relaxed, balanced and restored.
This session length is good when you have two or three tight/sore areas that need deep tissue work AND you want deep relaxation to reduce stress levels.
90 minutes
A 90 minute session allows you to receive a whole body, relaxing, Swedish massage in addition to the extra attention of deep tissue work on one or two areas that are sore or tight. It takes about 30 minutes before your mind and body really begin to relax and let go, so you are able reach a state of relaxation as well as have deep tissue work to a couple of troublesome areas.
This session length is ideal when you have soreness in 1 or 2 areas or you’re experiencing low stress levels. This length is what most people on a maintenance schedule prefer .
60 minutes
An hour session allows for deep tissue work in one or two areas that are sore or tight and need extra attention OR a relaxing session covering just the major muscles (neck, back, arms and legs).
