You can receive a free, 15 minute consultation in order to find out if massage therapy can help you reach your goals. During this consultation, the frequency of visits and cost of treatment will be discussed.
- During your initial visit you will fill out a form which lets the therapist know of any special conditions to be aware of in giving your massage. You can do this prior to your visit by clicking “Intake Form.”
- You and the therapist will discuss the goals you would like to reach and the frequency and duration it will take to get there. Chronic or acute problems typically require frequent sessions until there is improvement. The goal is to get you pain free while participating in your daily activities so that you can move into a maintenance schedule.
- Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before your start time to allow for discussion of treatment. Sessions end on time.
- While you’re receiving your massage, the therapist will periodically check in with you regarding pain and pressure. Pain should not exceed the “hurt so good” threshold for therapy. It is good to inform the therapist of areas of tenderness during your session. These are parts that need extra attention.
Massage as Part of Your Healthcare Routine
As with all self-care practices, consistency is key. As long as you are not in a chronic or acute stage of pain, a massage once a month is a good frequency level for maintaining your health. However, the more often that you can come and the longer of a session you can get, the better you will feel.
Budgeting time and money for therapeutic massage at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health.
